Reflections
Thoughts on counseling, spirituality, and what it means to grow.
This is where I think out loud — about faith, mental health, the spaces where they overlap, and the questions worth sitting with longer than a Sunday sermon allows.
Faith & Mental Health
The church has made incredible strides in talking about mental health — but some of the most well-intentioned advice still leaves people feeling more ashamed for struggling. Here's what I've learned from years of sitting with people on both sides of that equation.
Spiritual Wounds
For some people, church hurt runs so deep that the language of faith itself triggers pain. How do we hold space for that in the counseling room?
Recovery
Six years in faith-based treatment taught me that recovery isn't just behavioral. There's a spiritual hunger underneath most addiction that clinical models alone can't satisfy.
Counseling
Most people come into the first session not knowing what they're supposed to say. Here's what actually happens — and what I'm really listening for.
Faith & Identity
Many people who are "deconstructing" aren't abandoning their faith — they're trying to find a version of it that's actually true. That's worth exploring, not fearing.
Grief
Sometimes the heaviness people bring into my office isn't labeled grief — but underneath it, that's exactly what it is. Loss of faith. Loss of self. Loss of a future you expected.
The blog is being built out. Check back regularly, or reach out directly — I'm always happy to talk about any of these topics in a consultation.
